2017 Boys' Soccer About to Kick Off with Referee Shortage

February 12, 2017

The 2017 Utah boys' high school soccer season is about to get under way, but the Utah High School Athletic Association (UHSAA) is in need of more referees. The game of soccer is growing faster than we can supply referees. Now, I know what you are thinking: I don't want to get yelled at, I don't know the game that well, I was not a very good player, or I never played the game. Well, let me tell you that all of those worries can be overcome with our focused program. You will still get yelled at, but you will understand why they are yelling, and you will be able to focus through it and use it to your advantage.

This is not a one-and-done program. We mentor all our referees until they have a firm grasp of the laws of the game, the mechanics of signals, whistle etiquette, positioning, psychology of coaches/players/parents, practical application and scenarios, and weekly post-match discussions with seasoned referees. In short, UREF is here to help you become a great referee. Sign up and let us help you be the kind of referee that you used to yell at before you knew what you were doing.
